Students given anti-mumps jabs
Students in Oxford are being vaccinated against mumps over the next two days because of fears of an outbreak.

Vaccination sessions have been arranged for students after 25 cases were reported from Oxford University and 65 from Oxford Brookes University.

Students born after 1980 who have not received two doses of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) have been advised to have a dose of the vaccine now.

Officials hope to vaccinate as many students as possible before Christmas.

A spokesman from Oxford University said: "Although not all of the cases have been confirmed as mumps, the Health Protection Team and Oxfordshire Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) have recommended a wider vaccination programme to limit the spread of mumps."

Students are being advised to contact their college for details of times and venues for vaccinations.
