End of road for student bus ride
Plans to lay on a bus to transport Oxford's new university students just 500 metres have been scrapped.

The link had been organised to ferry "freshers" between two city centre venues being used during the new academic year's Freshers' Fair.

Students are now having to walk the short distance from the High Street to Bonn Square after bus company Stagecoach withdrew its services.

The firm's bosses say driving students one-and-a-half miles around the city's one-way system would contravene the local Oxford Transport Strategy.

The Student Union has agreed with the decision.
