Farmer Tony Martin is to speak at Cambridge and Oxford universities |
Tony Martin, the farmer released from prison in July after serving two-thirds of a five-year sentence for shooting dead a burglar, is to give talks to students at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford. Malcolm Starr, who led the campaign for the Norfolk farmer's release, said Mr Martin had received invitations to address the Cambridge and Oxford union societies and would almost certainly accept.
Last week, it emerged that Mr Martin had accepted an invitation to speak at a leading public school.
He is to address 180 sixth-formers at Oundle School in Oundle, Northamptonshire, as part of their general studies programme.
A school spokeswoman said he would talk about the problem of burglary and his own experiences.
The farmer was jailed after wounding burglar Brendan Fearon and killing his accomplice, 16-year-old Fred Barras, at his home in August 1999.
