Pilot flies over North Pole
Polly Vacher and her Piper Dakota
Mrs Vacher has already completed a record-breaking flight
A pilot attempting her second record-breaking solo flight around the world has completed her journey over the North Pole.

Polly Vacher, 59, from Drayton, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is aiming to become the first person to fly around the world in a single-engine light aircraft via north and south poles.

She had been delayed for 10 days in Norway, waiting for the weather to clear, so she could make the trip across the Arctic and into Canada.

She crossed the pole at 1830 GMT on Monday and landed at 0130 GMT on Tuesday.

Mrs Vacher has already entered the record books by becoming the first to fly a single-engine plane around the world via Australia and the Pacific.

The retired music teacher is using the same Piper Dakota for this 35,000-mile record attempt.
