Mixed seating scheme is 'success'

T block was segregated from the rest of the Brian Clough stand

Nottingham Forest have hailed a pilot project which allows rival fans to sit together as a success.

Supporters of Forest and visitors Doncaster Rovers could buy family tickets in the T block of the Brian Clough Stand on Saturday.

Steward Sue Gaughn said there was a good atmosphere in the stand, where children were also offered goodie bags and face painting.

Nottingham Forest won the Championship fixture 4-1.

'Family game'

Nottingham Forest's safety officer Alan Bexon said: "We managed it very carefully at the turnstiles; obviously a group of males would have stood out like a sore thumb.

"It is a family game these days, it always has been but I think families are feeling more confident to come to games these days.

"The trouble is still there and if we took our eye off the ball it would come back but children are the future of football and if we get them used to sitting with supporters of the opposing team, in a few years time who knows where we'll be."

T block seats about 900 fans and can be completely segregated from the rest of the stand. The scheme may now be repeated at other fixtures.

A similar project is in place at Fulham, which has a neutral stand.
