Rival fans sit together at ground

The club is hoping the idea will catch on at other football grounds

Home and opposition fans will soon be able to sit together at Nottingham Forest's City Ground as part of a pioneering new scheme.

The initiative is being trialled at Forest's home game with Doncaster Rovers on 28 November.

Supporters of both clubs will be able to buy family tickets in the T block of the Brian Clough Stand.

Nottingham Forest's safety officer Alan Bexon said the scheme is one of the first of its kind in England.

Mr Bexon said: "It's something we have been considering for some time.

"We sincerely hope the idea will catch on and lead to us eventually getting back to a situation where there is no need to segregate fans.

"Football has evolved since the days when hooliganism was at a peak and we believe the initiative could be a step in a very positive direction."

A similar scheme is in place at Fulham, which has a neutral stand.

The tickets for the Championship fixture go on general sale on 18 November.
