About 90 workers at a pork pie factory in Nottinghamshire are to lose their jobs, it has been announced. Pork Farms said the losses at its site on Queen's Drive in Nottingham were a result of the current economic climate and changes in working practices. The company said a 30-day consultation period had begun with members of staff and union representatives. In a statement Pork Farms said it was seeking voluntary redundancies of up to 90 of its 300 operational staff. The company added: "For some time we have been discussing with our representatives from Unite T&G, the required staffing levels to run the business in the short, medium and long term that will help us to optimise the capacity at the factory and put Queens Drive in a strong position for the future."
