Angela Spencer and John Greensmith, parents of Jason, 17, who died after he was stabbed in Tithby Drive, wrote the poem in an appeal for information.

"Don't be frightened, don't be scared, Your call to the police will show you care," reads the poem.

A 19-year-old man arrested at the scene has been released without charge.

Jason Spencer, from Montfort Crescent in Sherwood, was found with a serious stab chest wound by police on Tuesday night.

Detectives still want to trace a man seen leaving the scene on a blue and silver or blue and white "suspension or Y-framed mountain bike", shortly before the police arrived.

Supt Shaun Beebe from Nottinghamshire Police said: "Jason's parents are finding it hard to believe that their only son won't be coming home.

"We have spoken to a number of witnesses from the area but the answers still lie within the community.

"Someone knows who did this and we would urge them, for the sake of Jason's family, to contact the police."
