A 17-year-old boy has died in hospital in Nottingham after being found with serious chest injuries. Paramedics were called to Tithby Drive, Sherwood, at about 2100 GMT on Tuesday where they found the teenager.
He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre but pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being questioned by police in connection with the incident. The area has been cordoned off.
Post-mortem examination
Det Ch Insp Tony Heydon from Nottinghamshire Police, said the teenager may have been involved in an argument before his death.
"We are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard an argument taking place in and around the Tithby Drive area of Sherwood.
"Last night a young man lost his life and we need to establish how and why this happened.
"We need to hear from anyone who knows anything about this incident which has resulted in this boy's death," he said.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of the teenager's death, police said.
