County reveals incinerator site
The location of a major new waste incinerator in Nottinghamshire has been revealed by the county council.

The incinerator will not be in Forest Town as some campaigners feared, but on the site of the former Rufford Colliery near the village of Rainworth.

It will burn 180,000 tonnes of waste per year, but has met strong local opposition from enviromental groups.

Nottinghamshire County Council issued proposals for the plant more than 11 months ago.

Campaigners have expressed concern about possible increased traffic and pollution levels, with one group collecting over 4,000 signatures.

The protest group Mansfield Against Incineration (MAIN) is worried about any health implications.

They are also concerned about increased noise for people living near the site.
