Drinking is banned from streets
Street drinking has been banned from an area of inner city Nottingham to try and reduce anti-social behaviour.

An alcohol exclusion zone has been set up by Nottinghamshire Police following complaints from traders and residents.

They sited problems such as people urinating in the street, noise, begging and littering in the Hyson Green area.

Officers can confiscate any alcohol from people seen drinking in the streets and any drinks that are taken away will be disposed of.

Sgt Les Rawson, said: "Many people have complained about the anti-social behaviour carried out in public places within Hyson Green, particularly with street drinkers, and we have positively responded by taking this action.

"Having the powers to confiscate alcohol and arrest those unwilling to comply with the order provides a visible deterrent to people thinking about committing anti-social behaviour.

"We encourage local traders and residents to report street drinking to the police and we will take the necessary steps to reduce it."
