Smoking ban covers dropping butts
Smokers at Nottingham City Council are being given their own portable ashtray to encourage them not to drop cigarette butts on the floor.

Officials hope it will prevent them being dropped outside building entrances in large numbers.

The council has already banned smoking during office hours.

Five hundred containers marked with the slogan "Don't make Nottingham an ashtray" are being given to managers for distribution to staff.
