Changes aim to boost punctuality
Major changes to many train services running through the East Midlands come into force from Sunday - in a bid to improve punctuality.

It means fewer services will run at peak times from places like Beeston, Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham.

Central Trains believes that by running fewer trains it can do more to make sure they run on time.

But Transport 2000 campaigners said the plan could lead to more passengers using their cars instead of the train.

The changes include improving services between Nottingham and Skegness - and running a shuttle service with more stops at Grantham.

The overall number of trains will not be reduced but there will be fewer stops at some smaller stations in the morning rush hours.
