Many survivors are still sleeping outside

The Muslim Hands charity is asking for donations to help thousands of people still stranded without shelter after the earthquake earlier this year.

Nottinghamshire fire service has opened its stations as collection points until Wednesday lunchtime.

The aid will then be delivered overseas in the next few weeks.

Fire service spokesman Dave Storey said: "Any donations need to be dropped off at any fire station.

"We'll arrange for it to be transported to the community centre, because obviously these guys are going to be in for a very cold winter.

"Their lives have been turned upside down and they're living in tents or shelters."
