Speed camera scheme set to expand
A community scheme in which volunteers target speeding motorists with hand-held cameras is poised to expand across Nottinghamshire.

The Speedwatch campaign already operates in a number of areas, including Newark and Southwell.

It has led to about 1,000 warning letters being sent to motorists in the past few months.

The initiative is now set to extend to other parts of the county, such as Mansfield and Worksop.

Schemes normally only operate in areas with a speed limit of less than 40mph and where a risk assessment indicates the location is safe and suitable.

Similar projects have been launched across the country.
