New crackdown on street drinking
Street wardens and police have been given new powers to tackle street drinking in parts of Nottingham.

For the first time, they can both confiscate opened containers of alcohol and pour the contents away if a person refuses to stop drinking.

The new alcohol designation order is in place on Mansfield Road, around Sneinton Market and the castle.

Tim Coulson from Nottingham City Council said the new ruling is aimed at a few persistent offenders.
