The Home Office estimates crime costs residents and businesses in Newark and Sherwood more than �90m every year.

Now the Community Safety Partnership is drawing up a list of targets, including tackling crime in the worst-hit areas such as Newark Town Centre.

Public meetings are taking place at Ollerton Town Hall on Tuesday and at Newark Town Hall on Wednesday.

While the district has a lower crime rate than the rest of Nottinghamshire, recorded crime is still increasing.

The local council wants to know about people's priorities to inform a strategy for the next three years.
