Farms are being targeted by thieves |
Farmers in Nottinghamshire are being urged to paint huge logos on their tools and vehicles to deter burglars. Police say the logos will lower the re-sale value of the equipment.
Since the beginning of this year, there has been over a 100 thefts from agricultural properties in Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood.
Farming machinery has been the main target, but in some cases the stolen property has included metal gates and caravans.
Police say farming land is particularly at risk because properties are rarely locked and residents are often out during the day.
Officers are encouraging owners to fit alarm systems that instantly message their mobile phone when there is a break in.
