Group rallies against incinerator
A meeting is being held by campaigners in Mansfield who are fighting plans for a waste incinerator.

Nottinghamshire County Council has confirmed proposals for a plant between Mansfield and Ashfield, although a location has still to be decided.

Protestors are concerned one site being considered for the furnace, which would burn 180,000 tonnes of waste each year, is the Crown Farm Industrial Estate.

The Monday evening meeting will be held at St. Alban's Church in Forest Town.

A county council spokesperson said there would be a public consultation and environmental studies as part of the planning process.

Protest group, Mansfield Against Incineration, claim it will cause pollution and damage the health of local residents.
