Bid to avert festive tram strike
Talks have taken place to avert a possible strike by staff working on Nottingham's trams over Christmas and New Year.

Traditionally, public transport winds down on 24 and 31 December, but Nottingham Express Transit wants to run trams to a normal weekday timetable.

It would mean the final service leaving Nottingham at just after midnight.

The GMB union says conductors and drivers are against the plans and is concerned about staff safety.

Further talks between the two sides are expected to take place next week in an attempt to avoid industrial action.
