Road safety work created 'danger'
M1
The A453 is a main link with the M1
Road safety improvements on a busy Notts road are having to be changed because they create a hazard.

Right-turn filter lanes added to the A453 in September were supposed to make the route towards the M1 safer.

But drivers are moving into the middle lane too early, and that means they could end up driving into the path of oncoming cars.

The Highways Agency is adding red paint, extra white lines and arrows, over the next three nights.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place around the Barton Lane and New Road junctions to control traffic until the weekend.

The road is a notorious bottleneck and the agency has separate plans to dual the A453 between Clifton, on the edge of Nottingham, and the M1 by Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station.
