Shot mother fears further attacks
Bullet hole at scene
The house was hit by several shots
A mother has told friends she is terrified a gunman, who shot her as she cradled her baby, could come back.

The 21-year-old was operated on at the Queens Medical Centre on Monday after the shooting at her home on Andover Road in Bestwood, Nottingham.

The victim was hit twice in the lower back on Sunday evening but luckily the 13-month-old child escaped injury.

Police are investigating claims that two men visited the house in the days leading up to the incident.

Victim's friend
The woman was standing in her living room when a gunman fired several shots through the window, missing the child by inches.

Detective Inspector Andy Roberts said: "Gun crime is not common on this estate.

"However there have been a couple of isolated incidents recently and obviously we are investigating these."

The victim - who has now been released from hospital and reunited with her child at a secret location - has not been named for reasons of security and personal safety.

The woman's best friend, who lives nearby and also did not wish to be identified, said: "She is scared. She is petrified that they will come back and get her."

She added: "She would not harm anyone. She hardly ever goes out because she's got a kid.

"She's just saying how she can't believe they have done it to her."

Witnesses said shots were also fired at the next door house, where a man was spotted at the window.
