Mother in hospital after shooting
Bullet hole at scene
The scene is being examined
A 21-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being shot while holding her baby.

Police have confirmed they are investigating an incident on Andover Road in Bestwood, Nottingham at around 1930 BST on Sunday night.

An eyewitness said they heard the woman screaming and rushed out to help her and the 13-month-old child.

The child was not hurt in the incident and the woman's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Two suspects

Mary Bloomfield lives nearby and was one of the first at the scene.

She said: "One man used pressure to stop the bleeding and myself and another man talked to her to keep her awake.

"She did not know why she had been shot, she couldn't understand it at all and she was hysterical for her baby."

The victim is currently being treated at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, while her baby is being cared for by relatives.

Officers believe that a number of shots were fired at two homes in the area and are looking for two men in connection with the shooting.

The terraced house was cordoned off while forensic scientists carried out a full examination of the scene.
