Minor arson 'drain on resources'
Bestwood fire
The Bestwood garages were later demolished
Fire authorities in the East Midlands say their resources are being drained by minor arson incidents.

In the latest case in Nottinghamshire - captured on video by a BBC viewer - a Bestwood garage complex was set alight by youths and later demolished.

Figures provided by the fire services show between 10% and 33% of fire call-outs are to minor incidents.

However Neil Colton, from the Nottinghamshire Fire Service, said: "We are starting to win the battle."

Of the fire service's 23,500 call-outs, 10% are to minor incidents.

The problem is worse in Northamptonshire (12,500 call-outs, of which 33% are minor), Leicestershire (19,000 and 25%) and Derbyshire (26,000 and 17%).
