Police target 'nuisance' youths
New powers will be used to crack down on teenagers causing problems in a Nottinghamshire park, police say.

Residents near Racecourse Park in Mansfield have complained about noise from motorbikes and children swearing and drinking.

An off-duty policeman had stones thrown at him when he challenged a group of youths in the park.

Officers say they will use anti-social behaviour laws to disperse crowds and arrest anyone causing problems.

Sergeant Eddie Brudzinski of Mansfield Police Station, said: "The number of calls we have received in relation to nuisance behaviour in Racecourse Park has recently been on the increase.

"We've had numerous reports of youths riding motorbikes on or around the park area and drinking alcohol.

"We are concerned because several people who challenged their behaviour have been abused."
