A public inquiry has been set up to decide plans for a new railway station near East Midlands Airport. The station would provide 1,000 parking spaces and a bus link to the airport, but has been delayed by planning rows.
Powergen has not agreed to sell five acres of land next to Ratcliffe Power Station in Nottinghamshire, and now the government has decided to step in.
The inquiry has been set for 22 June and will consider a number of objections to the new station.
Public inquiry
The East Midlands Parkway station has been on the drawing board for years, but has been dogged by planning rows.
The first train was due to have stopped there almost two years ago.
The power company and Midland Mainline have been trying to agree a deal over its sale for several months.
The public inquiry will be held at Midland Mainline's customer services academy in Pride Park in Derby.
The Secretary of State will then decide whether or not to uphold the objections or force Powergen to sell the land so the station can go ahead.
