Vandalism and threatening behaviour towards drivers has forced Nottingham City Transport (NCT)to restrict some of its services in the Clifton area. Three NCT routes have been targeted, forcing the company to shorten services.
There have been reports of bricks being thrown at vehicles and drivers being threatened.
NCT says it hopes to reinstate a full service once the situation improves.
There has been an increase in anti social behaviour in parts of Clifton over recent months, and buses have become an easy target for vandals. At one point police officers were riding on some buses, but now NCT has decided to limit some services.
The number 2 will now terminate at the Man of Trent pub, and the 48 and 53 will reroute to avoid trouble hotspots.
Barrie Burch, commercial manager for Nottingham City Transport, explained urgent action to improve the situation was underway: "A lot of people in the Clifton area are being really inconvenienced by these mindless idiots.
"I have a meeting (on Wednesday) with police and local councillors.
"While everyone is being very supportive, I am not prepared at the moment, until I can get reassurances that crews are going to be safe and passengers are going to be safe, to put the vehicles back."
