City pools under threat

There are fears five pools in Nottingham may have to close
A city council is considering the closure of five of its leisure centres because of rising costs and falling attendance.

Nottingham City Council says the 5m repair bill for the leisure centres is too expensive.

The council manages 12 leisure centres - and 10 of them have swimming pools.

In the last 30 years the number of people using the facilities has dropped by more than one million.

The five sites facing closure are Bulwell Lido, Noel Street, Lenton, Portland and Beechdale Baths.

The council has promised that residents will be consulted before a final decision is made.
