Residents say the boy racers are keeping them awake
A district council is planning to erect bollards to stop drivers from racing around a retail park.

Plans have been drawn-up for the bollards at Portland Retail Park in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire after residents complained that boy-racers were keeping them awake at night.

They say screeching brakes and loud music have made their lives a misery.

The retail park, located near Mansfield Town's Field Mill stadium, is used by a group of car enthusiasts who meet there in the evenings.

Some residents who live nearby have signed a petition complaining about the noise of cars.

They have welcomed a planning application to Mansfield District Council for retractable bollards at the entrance to the car park.

The car enthusiasts say it is an ideal site for them and that problems caused by a small group of irresponsible drivers has calmed down in recent weeks.

The complaints follow a crackdown by police in Nottingham following concerns about boy racers in the city centre.
