Hooligans receive letter warning

Forest and Derby are fierce rivals
Police are sending personal letters to football hooligans in a bid to curb trouble at a game between fierce East Midlands rivals.

Known troublemakers who support Derby County are being warned that they could be arrested if they travel to Nottingham for this weekend's game against Nottingham Forest.

Forest-Derby games often attract trouble and hundreds of police officers will be on duty this weekend.

But Nottinghamshire Police say the letters are a new tactic.

The hooligans receiving the letters are Rams supporters who have been banned from their own club.

Inspector Greg Drozdowski, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We have told them in no uncertain terms they are not welcome."

If the hooligans are spotted by police, they may be arrested if police anticipate trouble.
