Access overhaul for hospital
Nottingham City Hospital
The health care trust cannot provide the drugs to all patients
Major work has begun to improve access to Nottingham's City Hospital.

The entrance along Hucknall Road will see an extra lane for outgoing traffic as well as a new path for pedestrians.

Gate three on Hunknall Road is the busiest entrance to the hospital with around 14,000 vehicles using it to come on site everyday.

Currently it has one lane for incoming and outgoing traffic which causes traffic congestion, especially cars turning right onto the main road.

The works - expected to cause disruption until the end of August - will see the creation of pedestrian areas on both sides of the gate.

There will be two lanes for outgoing vehicles and one for incoming as well as new crossing points for people on foot.

Vehicles are still being allowed to use the gate when entering the hospital grounds but will need to follow diversions when leaving.
