The redevelopment of a town centre in Northants has taken a step forward with councillors choosing a construction company for the 75m project. Henry Boot Developments Ltd will be involved in building new shops, offices and leisure facilities in Daventry.
The district council and Henry Boot will now develop more detailed plans on which people living and working in the town can give their views.
It is hoped that a planning application will be submitted by Christmas.
Councillor Chris Over said: "This is an investment for the future, to deliver long-term social and economic benefits to both the town - which is set to grow to a population of some 40,000 - and of course the district as a whole.
"We see the 75m investment by the developer, the proposed additional retail and leisure facilities, as a vote of confidence."
