Protest over youth centre closure
Grendon Hall
Some 10,000 young people use Grendon Hall every year
Members of a brass band are to stage a protest on Saturday against the proposed closure of Grendon Hall.

The hall was earmarked for possible closure in cost-cutting proposals tabled in December.

Northamptonshire County Council are meeting on the 23 February to decide if they will carry out the plans.

Grendon Hall hosts summer schools and training programmes offering courses including archery, abseiling, climbing and canoeing

"This is a facility run by skilled people and you won't get that expertise anywhere else," said John Gardner, of Grendon's advisory board.

"Over 10,000 young people use it a year for all sorts of activities, whether it's for outdoor climbing, football, or rugby."

The Northampton Bass Band will be protesting the closure by playing their instruments at the hall.
