Centre may close in council cuts
Grendon Hall
Some 10,000 young people use Grendon Hall every year
A residential centre which offers courses and activities for thousands of young people could close next summer.

Grendon Hall in Northamptonshire has hosted summer schools and training programmes since it opened in 1946.

The hall was earmarked for possible closure in cost-cutting proposals discussed by the council last week.

"This is a facility run by skilled people and you won't get that expertise anywhere else," said John Gardner, of Grendon's advisory board.

"It would be a grave mistake if that happens. Over 10,000 young people use it a year for all sorts of activities, whether it's for outdoor climbing, football, or rugby," he added.
