A taser 'stun-gun' has been used for the third time by police in Northamptonshire. Police in Corby used the device, which delivers a 50,000-volt electric shock, to incapacitate a suspected drugs dealer at about 1615 GMT on Wednesday.
A statement said officers deployed the taser in Welland Vale Road when a 38-year-old failed to comply with their instructions.
Northamptonshire Police is one of five forces currently taking part in a year long trial of the M26 Advanced Taser.
The experiment started in April 2003 and involves Lincolnshire Police, the Metropolitan Police, Thames Valley Police and North Wales Police.
Lincolnshire, the Met and North Wales have all deployed the taser on one occasion, while Thames Valley has still not used it.
The Police Complaints Authority was informed about the incident.
