Paddy was loved by everyone, says pastor |
Hundreds of mourners gathered for the funeral of a born-again Christian teenager killed during a brawl in a notorious Greek tourist resort. Crowds packed Harborough Evangelical Church, in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, for the service for Paddy Doran, 17, who died of stab wounds in Faliraki last month.
Family, friends and hundreds of travellers from across the country joined the congregation and later lined the 17-mile route to Northampton, where the teenager was being buried.
Large numbers of floral tributes were driven to the small church on lorries, which were among a cortege of around 200 vehicles.
Huge wreaths outside the church depicted his favourite singer Elvis Presley, while others - an aftershave bottle and brand of beer - represented his recreations.
Pastor Walter Winter, who led the service, said: "He was a clean-living young man who was loved by everyone."
The 6ft 4in teenager was a born-again Christian and had expressed concerns to his mother on the night of his death about his holiday in Rhodes with a group of his cousins.

Josie Doran, who lived with her son at a caravan site in Market Harborough, said he had called to say he wanted to return home early because the island was "too wild". Later that night, 12 August, the teenager died after being struck with a broken bottle outside the Q Bar.
Mr Doran's burial service was taking place at Towcester Road Cemetery in Northampton.
