Tributes have been left at the scene of the fire |
Police investigating the deaths of two teenage jockeys in an apparent arson attack have urged everyone who was in the area at the time to come forward. Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson died in a fire at flats in Buckrose Court, Norton, near Malton, North Yorkshire, in the early hours of Saturday. Police urged anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward urgently, "whether a witness or not". Mr Kyne, 18, and Miss Wilson, 19, were at a party when the fire broke out. Mr Kyne, from Galway in the Irish Republic, had been living at Buckrose Court. Miss Wilson, from Forfar in Angus, had been living in Market Place, Thirsk. 'Tragic incident' Det Supt Alan Carey, who is leading the investigation, said the fire was being treated as suspicious. He said: "We are keeping an open mind while we gather all the facts and examine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. "Only when these inquiries have been completed will we be in a position to determine the cause of the fire." Flowers from former champion jockey Kieren Fallon were among the tributes laid at the entrance to the flats on Monday. A man in his 30s who was arrested in connection with the fire has been released on bail. The forensic examination of the flats at Buckrose Court has concluded.
