Pit closure leads to base switch
The Mines Rescue Service in North Yorkshire has had to switch bases after it was announced a Selby colliery is to close in October.

The service has moved from the Selby pit complex to Kellingley Colliery, near Pontefract, ahead of the final closure of Riccall Colliery.

The rescue service is one of six in the UK who are called upon should an accident take place underground.

It is understood that all 19 members of staff will switch to the new base.
