Hundreds of people queued to register when the practice opened |
A crisis-hit dental practice is to re-open following the appointment of another overseas dentist. Kassandra Dowling, from the Dutch Caribbean, has joined the New Queen Street practice in Scarborough, which reopens to NHS patients on Monday.
Original dentist Arie Van Drie left after details of a criminal conviction in the Netherlands were uncovered.
Her Greek colleague Irene Tsanidou resigned after it emerged she was not registered to practice in the UK.
Patients queue
Now a new dentist is in place, the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Primary Care Trust said all patients who had appointments cancelled by the closure would be seen within 10 weeks.
Chief Executive Michael Whitworth added: "We apologise for any inconvenience that the temporary closure of the practice may have caused patients.
"I am delighted that NHS patients in Scarborough will have further access to high quality dental care."
About 3,000 patients registered for the surgery when it opened in February.
The queues, which formed for several hours outside the building, attracted national and international publicity.
