Boy shot in face at school

The boy suffered minor facial injuries
Police are investigating an incident in which a pupil was shot in the face at school.

The injured 15-year-old boy is a pupil at Selby High School, in North Yorkshire.

It is believed he was shot with an air weapon on Tuesday afternoon.

He received minor facial injuries and a chipped tooth.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire County Council said they were aware of the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating after a year 11 boy was hit in the face by a plastic pellet fired from what we believe is a ball bearing gun."
