Rail tunnel works completed
Rail repairs
The tunnel was closed on 3 August
Train services resume on Sunday on the Harrogate to Leeds line after five weeks of engineering work.

Work costing 10m in the Bramhope tunnel has now been completed - one week later than originally planned.

While the tunnel has been closed, passengers have had to use buses to travel between Harrogate and Leeds.

Tracks inside the tunnel have been replaced and the drainage system improved to prevent the flooding which has affected it in the past.

Network Rail says the new tracks mean trains will be able to travel faster through the tunnel which is nearly three miles long.

This will cut a typical journey from Harrogate to Leeds by five minutes.
