Power cut extends to third night

A number of homes in isolated areas of Norfolk have experienced a third night without power.

EDF Energy said a handful of homes in Hindringham, near Fakenham, are still waiting for power to be restored.

Most have been without electricity since Thursday following snowfall and strong winds.

An EDF Energy spokesman said engineers were hopeful of reconnecting all homes later. Work has been made difficult by bad weather conditions, the firm said.

On Friday evening, EDF said 1,200 customers in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex were unlikely to have their power restored overnight.

It is not known how many of those went without power for a third night, between Saturday and Sunday.
