Boil water order remains in place
People living in parts of Norfolk are being advised to keep boiling drinking water after concern a parasite may have entered supplies.

Tests confirmed cryptosporidium, which can cause diarrhoea, may have entered the drinking water supply in the North Walsham area after Thursday's rain.

The affected areas are North Walsham and Felmingham.

Anglian Water said it was likely that the boil notice would be in place until the end of the week.

'Easily filtered'

About 6,000 people are thought to be affected. Supplies in Swanton Abbott and Skeyton are now safe to drink.

Bottled water is being supplied to vulnerable people.

The cryptosporidium parasite can cause diarrhoea, stomach cramps, upset stomach and a slight fever.

However, illness tends to strike older people and children.

The parasite can easily be filtered out of water supplies due to its size.
