Dorothy Edwards bestows a surprise kiss on Mrs Parker Bowles' hand |
Camilla Parker Bowles was applauded at Sandringham as she stepped into the shoes of the Queen Mother for the second year running. The Prince of Wales's companion received a warm welcome from royal watchers as she toured Sandringham Flower Show.
It was the second year running that Mrs Parker Bowles had accompanied Prince Charles to the show, held annually in the grounds of the Queen's royal residence in Norfolk.
A year ago eyebrows were raised when the Prince invited Mrs Parker Bowles to an event which was traditionally patronised by the Queen Mother.

But this year there was applause - and even an impromptu kiss on the hand - as she emerged from the main show tent to tour the grounds. Many people who follow the royals closely said they would be pleased to see the couple married.
"I don't see any reason why not," said Mary Relph, of Shouldham, Norfolk, after speaking to Mrs Parker Bowles at the show.
"I think quite honestly they make a lovely couple.
"I think it would be half-and-half in terms of support for a marriage throughout the country but I would like to see it.
"I would like to see Charles have a little bit of happiness."
Careful distance
Ralph Nichols, 71, of Lowestoft, Suffolk, added: "I think he should marry her. He is entitled to."
The Prince and Mrs Parker Bowles arrived at the show together but maintained a careful distance as they toured the grounds.
Mrs Parker Bowles walked 20 yards behind the Prince and was not introduced to the show's committee with him on arrival.
One admirer, though, did not keep her distance.
Dorothy Edwards, 77, from Haughley, near Stowmarket in Suffolk, broke royal protocol at the show by kissing Mrs Parker Bowles' hand.
She said afterwards: "I'm shaking I'm so excited."
The couple spent more than an hour at the show, which is organised by the Sandringham Estate Horticultural Society and has been running for more than 120 years.
