Motorists in Norwich face long queues for city centre parking |
A Norwich car park re-opened on Monday bringing much-needed extra spaces for motorists. Rose Lane car park had been demolished but the site has been levelled to create 200 more spaces.
City councillors have also approved another 100 new spaces at a temporary car park near the railway station.
The city had lost a total of 1,800 parking spaces after the closure of two car parks in the city centre in June.
The parking area behind City Hall was closed after cracks were found in the concrete, caused by salt thrown up by passing vehicles.
And a multi-storey car park was closed to allow the site to be redeveloped.
The closures have led to a parking crisis in the city, with long queues for motorists waiting for spaces in the remaining car parks at Castle Mall and other spots.
