Liam Costello suffered severe head injuries
The funeral of a Liverpool boy who died in a walking accident in Snowdonia is to take place later.

Liam Costello, who was 11, from Childwall, was walking with his father and his brother when he fell from Crib y Ddysgl ridge on Snowdon.

He suffered extensive head injuries and was taken to Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor, but died later.

His father praised his son as a talented sportsman who played football and represented his city in cricket.

'Fabulous boy'

Mr Costello said there was no-one to blame for the "tragic accident".

Liam, an Everton fan, had just started at St Francis Xavier?s College in Liverpool.

He said his son was "adored by his mum and dad, also worshipped by his little brother Tom.

He described him as "a fabulous boy with time and compassion for everyone" somebody who "touched the hearts of everyone he met."

Woolton Warriors U12s team held a minute's applause and remembrance ceremony for him on Saturday.
