The funeral of one of the pilots who died when a RAF Nimrod crashed in Afghanistan in September has taken place in Merseyside. Flt Lt Steven Swarbrick, 28, was buried with full military honours after the service at St Michael's and All Angels Church in Formby, Liverpool.
His coffin was taken to the church in a horse-drawn carriage and carried in by family members.
About 240 people attended the service, led by the Reverend Andrew Taylor.
A Nimrod staged a fly-past as his coffin was carried from the church by RAF Kinloss pallbearers.
At the interment at the church graveside, a firing party released a volley of three shots.
The Nimrod MR2 aircraft crashed on 2 September near Kandahar after a suspected technical fault.
Flt Lt Swarbrick died along with 13 other men, 12 of whom were based at RAF Kinloss, Scotland.
