The booklet explains how Liverpudlians can get involved |
Liverpudlians are being sent an information guide explaining what the city's year as European Capital of Culture could mean to them. The 27-page booklet, called 08 - What's It All About?, details what the council is doing in the run up to 2008.
Chairman of the Liverpool Culture Company, Professor Drummond Bone, says the city is on an exciting journey.
"We want to make sure everyone is given the opportunity to take part when the world's eyes are on the city," he said.
"It is important that individuals and communities discover how they can get involved in the celebrations and become part of an event which is bound to become one of the most significant in Liverpool's history." Council Leader Mike Storey says the accolade will create "more jobs, a stronger economy and a better place to live."
"European Capital of Culture will leave a positive and lasting legacy for the people of Liverpool," he added.
BBC Radio Merseyside's Roger Phillips will launch the booklet on Thursday.
The guide encourages local people to make the most of the culture on their doorstep, including Liverpool's museums, galleries, theatres, historic halls and parks.
