Managed red light zones have "overwhelming" zone |
A managed prostitution zone for Liverpool has "overwhelming" support, say the organisers of a citywide consultation process. The idea was backed by 83% of those who took part in the consultation, researchers said on Thursday.
Peter Clarke, Head of Sexual Health at the Centre for Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University said the response had been overwhelming.
Similar schemes have been piloted in Doncaster and Edinburgh.
"We've had over 1,000 individual responses - I say individual because a lot of these were from housing associations and residents' forums," said Mr Clarke.
"So even though that was one response it may have represented more than 300 people," he said.
