Man charged over Superbowl streak
Mark Roberts
Roberts could face up to six months in a US jail
A British man who streaked at the US Superbowl is to go on trial for trespassing and could face six months in jail.

Convicted streaker, Mark Roberts, 39, from Liverpool, ran on to the pitch in Texas in February.

He tore off a fake referee's striped uniform and danced a jig wearing only a thong.

Roberts has targeted high-profile events before, most notably when he streaked at the Commonwealth Games.

His Superbowl streak has been largely overshadowed by the more reported incident involving the singer Janet Jackson.

Notorious streaker

She bared a breast at the same event during a dance routine with Justin Timberlake, causing outrage across the US.

She initially blamed it on "a wardrobe malfunction", but later apologised.

Roberts is a notorious streaker, hitting the headlines two years ago when he stripped in front of the Earl and Countess of Wessex as they watched the Commonwealth Games.

He seized his moment during the men's 100m final at the City of Manchester Stadium in July 2002.

String of convictions

He was charged with causing a public nuisance and bound over to keep the peace in the sum of 400.

But he vowed that he would carry on streaking, saying: "I enjoy the buzz of it all."

Roberts has a string of previous convictions in connection with streaking.

He has previously been seen at Hampden Park, Glasgow, for the Champions League final and at Wimbledon.
